Dear CSL,
I have been getting a lot of messages recently about emails
messages not going through to folks. I almost all cases the problem
comes back to individuals email programs not being updated regularly.
Each time you update your system it gets a new security certificate,
which Simplelists.com looks for. If that number is more than two week
old the message will not get delivered, or you will not receive it.
Normally if you send a message to the list serv, or to everyone on the
list serv, you should know in about five minutes if it went through, as
a copy of it will show up in your inbox. The other big issues are folks
sending messages from accounts that are not listed on the list. The
account address you receive your messages on is the one you need to send
from. If you send from an account I don't know about, Simplelist rings
on my cellphone to let me know about an unapproved email waiting for
distribution. Then I have to login, review the message and OK or delete
that message.
That may not happen right away as like currently, I am out touring and
may only check my phone a few times per day. Even worse is I just found
out my phone has been off for that past few days, as I forgot to charge
it. I thought is was nicely quiet of late. The last issue stems from a
mistake I made when setting up the service a few years ago. Sometime
folks type in the email address incorrectly and it goes nowhere. The
correct email address to the entire community is;
csl_membership@csl-membership.simplelists.com
I opted for a single address for the community in the beginning instead
of a multi-address, of which I later upgraded to. When I upgraded the
account it assigned me the new address and I added more as needed. There
is a separate email address for all council emails that only council
members are on. Even I don't see those. I know when messages are sent
but I can't read them, as it is a part of the security package I got
when I upgraded the overall package.
I also run my daily or semi daily touring reports from the same service.

If you look carefully at the email address for CSL , the first part has
a underscore (csl_membership) and the second part after the @ uses a
dash (csl-membership) and finally the (.simplelists.com) is the provider
name.
I hope this clears up some questions. I am only at the computer most
nights now but I will jump on questions as fast as I can.
