Dear CSL Folks,
I have a memory of a meeting with the group at one of our Convocation where we had discussed some of the history of our group. Abbot Basil basically we should stop talking about the past issues and move on. One hour later while walking to a meal someone asked him a question relating to that past and he told them to ask me about it since I was full of it (history). That is where I start referring to myself (as full of it) on many subjects. Thank you Abbot!
Donnellson is a rough chapter in out collective history. There
were good times and bad or worse times. For those of us who came
into community during that period, I think we gained a true
experience of what a mixed community is, along with ALL
the pitfalls. Looking back I see how a clear understanding of the
rule is so important, especially concerning the selection of the
abbot, how we are to interact with each other, how thing should be
run and of course humility.
On a more personal note, I view that time period as one of the best parts of my life. 2001 to 2009. Granted I pull some crap on MJ when I was pissed about somethings, that would have tested the resolve of our Holy Father Benedict, and certainly would have included a few more chapters within the Rule. One of those being Don't admit firefighters.
Should our leadership want to go ahead with scrape booking stuff, well I have plenty of my own photo's, you might say, I am full of it. Or we could follow Abbot Basil's advice.
In closing I would ask the old timers, if they ever heard about MJ's neon red computer in the later years (the reason I was told never to set foot on the abbey grounds again in 2009), or his lawnmower. Funny stories of my past sins that I still am doing penance for.

How about a cloud scrapbook? Although it counter culture for monastics to write a lot of stuff down, I wonder if an archivist is permitted?Br JD
