Dear Sisters and Brothers,

Last evening by brother, Fr. Andrew called me to tell me that a long time friend of his, Rev. Charles Redfern lost his battle with cancer.  His passing is a real loss for Andrew. They’ve been friends since high school, almost 50 years. They’ve supported each other as they each worked to guide and support God’s people; ‘Chuck”(as he was known) in the Baptist church and Andrew in the Episcopal church.

I only met Rev. Redfern a couple of times both with Andrew. What I enjoyed most, was that they both had a somewhat ‘bent’ sense of humor. But not only that, the ‘bends’ were in the same direction so they were a perfect fit.

Please pray for Rev. Redfern’s soul as he returns to Christ. Please pray for his wife Andrea, and his son Caleb.  Please pray also for Fr. Andrew as he struggles with his loss.

“Into thy hands, O Lord, we commend thy servant Charles, our dear brother, as into the hands of a faithful Creator and most merciful Savior, beseeching thee that he may be precious in thy sight. Wash him, we pray thee, in the blood of that immaculate Lamb that was slain to take away the sins of the world; that, whatsoever defilements he may have contracted in the midst of this earthly life being purged and done away, he may be presented pure and without spot before thee; through the merits of Jesus Christ thine only Son our Lord.”  Amen.
